THE CAMPAIGN
Eighteen months ago, we launched our first fundraising campaign. In total, we need $135 million to buy land, build a campus and operate it for the first 10 years.
We’re negotiating on a site and working with architects on initial campus renderings.
We're halfway toward our $35 million fundraising goal and plan to break ground in early 2028.

True Expense Per Student
First-time visitors often ask, “What does all this cost?” Comparatively, not as much as one might think. The Greater Dayton School will cost roughly the same per student as the state’s largest urban district, while producing far superior results.
The commonly quoted cost-per-student figure on state report cards is actually an “expenditure per equivalent pupil,” a number adjusted using a multiplier — it makes large urban districts look cheaper per student than they actually are. When you divide a district’s actual operating cost by its number of enrolled students with no adjustment, the numbers tell a different story.
The cost per student reported after a multiplier is applied.

as proficient as Dayton Public schools in reading (75% to 38%) and math (67% to 29%).

2025–26 income statement for The Greater Dayton School:
More than 40 organizations and individuals have committed to investing in our work. We thank these folks, and so many others, for their continued leadership and support.
The true embodiment of Greater Schools culture is our lunch.
We provide three meals a day, but lunch is truly special. It’s a time for kids and staff to gather for a student-run, nutritious, family-style meal prepared by our on-site chef.
And it has to be experienced to truly be appreciated. You’re all invited.
